After knowing the best restaurant in Melaka, you also need to know the restaurant “special dishes”. This is to ensure that you do not order the “wrong” type of food. Each restaurant has its signature dishes! If the dishes happen to be of your liking, then that restaurant is your best choice!

However, there’s no harm in being adventureous and try out other dishes, you might find other “treasures dishes" in that particular restaurant. That’s how I get to know the nice dishes around Melaka!

Each and everyone has their own “special” restaurant preference list. I remembered having a conversation with a couple from Portugal. According to them, they do not know what type of dishes to order as they are unfamiliar with our local food, the name of the dishes and so on. They also mentioned that it’s rude to point at “dishes” served at the table next to you and while ordering.

Therefore, I figure out that the best way is not to just introduce the best restaurant but also the dishes as well for the sake of tourists visiting Melaka (Malacca).

Restaurants in Cheng Area:

Restaurant Chuan KK

Location:

Cheng, Melaka.

Dishes:

Curry fish head (not bad), braise pork(my daughter loves the tenderness & juiciness of the meat), "mami" fried pork rib (My brother favourite as he loves fried dishes) as for vegetables i would recommend the fried "chai dan".

If you like to eat exotic meat like boar & squirel meat. This restaurant also serve delicious wild meat. Suggestion: Fried curry wild boar meat (dry).

Ambience:

This restaurant look like a typical coffee shop and it is open-air concept. Definately, not your high end restaurant with air-conditioned.

Price:

Middle range. Generally it cost around RM150.00 for 7 types of dishes plus drink(including beer) for 6 adults portion.

Ru Ping Bak Kut Teh

Location:

Cheng, Melaka.

Dishes:

I would higly recommed the fried/dry bak kut teh. It is very delicious. Alternatively, you could order both type (Soup & dry). You have the option to enjoy your Bak Kut Teh with garlic rice or plain white rice.

Price:

We ordered one bowl of the normal soup Bak Kut Teh & the dry version (pig's leg), one plate of vegetables, drinks for two and three bowls of rice. It cost us around RM37.00
