Please be patient as getting to Melaka by air is not the best options for everyone. The reason is At the moment, Melaka’s own airport only caters to small planes like Fokker 50’s, Cessna and Pipers etc.
Melaka’s airport is known as Batu Berendam Airport. It was opened in October 1952.
Most of the flights available cater to Padang, Pekan Baru Batam and Jambi in Indonesia. These flights are operated by small regional airlines like Berjaya Air, Merpati Nusantara and Riau Airline.
Currently, Batu Berendam Airport is undergoing upgrading process. It is due to complete by end of 2009. I am definitely looking forward for Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft landing in Batu Berendam Airport. Therefore, for the time being; you should fly directly in to Malaysia and land at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
From the airport, you can get a LIMO or taxi and headed towards Melaka. The journey from KLIA to Melaka town will be around 1 ½ hours.
