What's so special with Hang Tuah Mausoleum? You may ask. Let me share with you.....
Hang Tuah is the legendary hero of Melaka. He and his friends' bravery have been the inspiring stories that live on from one generation to another.
According to the folktales, Hang Tuah and his friends lived in Melaka during the Sultan Mansur Syah reign. Their bravery were noticed when they saved the Melaka Bendahara or Prime Minister from a person that ran amok in their village.
At that time, they were young boys in their teens. It was believed that the five friends or "Five Hangs" went to Gunung Ledang to learn their martial arts known as silat and ancient magic. Until today, most Melakan believe that Gunung Ledang is a very sacred and magical place while Keris Taming Sari is the famous sword that belongs to him.
Due to his bravery and loyalty, he was promoted to be Admiral or Laksamana Hang Tuah. His job function aside from being Melaka’s diplomat is to protect Melaka from its enemies. However with his success, he became a threat to the other Melaka Court members and was wrongly accused until he was sentenced to death by Sultan Mansur Syah.
Later, this death sentence leads to the famous tragic duel between him and Hang Jebat. Hang Jebat was killed using the famous Keris Taming Sari.
Historically, it was believed that Hang Tuah Mausoleum is located at Tanjung Kling. However, there’s another version of folktales who believe Hang Tuah just disappeared into thin air after he threw his Keris Taming Sari into the Melaka River.
This famous warrior is believed to be still "moving around" between Gunung Ledang and Makkah, Arab. No matter where this Melaka warrior final resting place, he is still the Melaka legendary hero.
