Unaware of Melaka Health Tourism?

Just read up as I share with you.....

Health Tourism in Melaka? Well,Melaka is well known for its historical sites and ruins. However, not many are aware that it is one of the top choices for medical health tourism among Singaporean and Indonesian.

The reason mainly lies to the availability of well equipped state-of-art medical facilities and personal. Melaka, though small in size has 3 private hospitals which cater to the growing demand of private medical care service or health related tourism. The private hospitals are:

  1. Mahkota Medical Centre
  2. Putra Medical Centre
  3. Pantai Medical Centre

Due to the reasonable medical charges and qualified professional medical practitioners available in Melaka, the number of patients from Indonesia has increased tremendously in the past 3 years. This is a proof of the increasing popularity of medical health tourism in Melaka.

Are you wondering how the heck I know about this? The reason is, Mr. Ee, my husband is an insurance agent. Therefore due to the nature of his work I would say private hospitals are his "second homes". As time passes by, I get the information about the private hospitals and doctors in Melaka either from him or via my own experiences. (Family members, friends and I seek medical treatment).

Let me share with you some of the doctors that I know. If you are looking for neurosurgeon, there are only two medical practitioners available in Melaka. They are Dr. Parthiban Navoo in Mahkota Medical Centre and Dr. Radhakrishnan in Putra Medical Centre.

Those seeking for in-vitro fertilization service could find it at Mahkota Medical Centre. The medical practitioner in charge is Dr. S. Selva. However, I am not sure of the charges involved.

As for general medical practitioner you can look for Dr. Francis Yip in Mahkota Medical Centre. Let me tell you more about my family Doctor.

If you have been to his clinic in Mahkota Medical Centre, you will notice that he likes to wear a bow. Secondly, just for fun, do count the strikes that he takes when he is walking from his examination/consultation room to his front clinic door. If I am not mistaken, only 3 to 4 strikes as compared to others who take more than 5 steps.

As he is well-known among the Indonesian patients for thyroid treatment and gastritis treatment, the waiting list will be quite long. One last thing, you will notice that Indonesian patients will call him "Dr. Perancis" instead of Dr. Francis!

As for other medical practitioners, I will definitely need some time to compile and list down their expertise to make this page more helpful.

Melaka (Malacca) also offers alternative health tourism. As a result, Melaka has many complimentary medicine practitioners available.

Chinese Sinseh (medical practitioner) is famous for Chinese medicine and acupuncture skills. For those who have not tried acupuncture treatment, it does “sound and seem“ scary to imagine your body being pierced with needles!

However, just relax, close your eyes and you will feel nothing. Emm… maybe something; the beating of your nervous heart! I have experience it.

My Tip: Just remember to close your eyes and you will be fine. Other complimentary or health alternative services are:

  1. Homeopathy
  2. Aura Healing
  3. Traditional Massages
  4. Foot Reflexology

Traditional massages are very good in helping to circulate the blood flow. Aside from that if there’s blood blockage in your vein and you suffer from mild joint pain, a good massage could help you to reduce the problems. There are cases where people who suffer from stroke recover around 70% to 80% after massage treatment from “professional traditional massagers“ who look “unprofessional“.

These traditional massagers could be found in villagers, they don’t advertise yet clients from out of Melaka swarm to their houses for their services. There might be more alternative health service providers which are unknown to me. Nevertheless, I will keep updating it when I come across interesting “health“ related services and information around Melaka and Malaysia.

Till then, eat healthy and stay healthy…
