Below are the 5-star and 4-star hotels found in Melaka, Malaysia. I have even added my personal comments and reviews on each of the hotels. I hope that this will help you to make a better decision before booking the hotel online.
Majestic Hotel
The Majestic Hotel Swimming Pool
This boutique hotel is full of characters and history. The original building (a serene mansion hotel), dating back to the 1920’ was renovated and refurbish for the modern need of a 5-star hotel. Step in to the mansion hotel and marvel the unique blend of old and modern interior design of the hotel.
The rooms are located in a new building which connected to the mansion. Therefore, the expectation of a modern comfort and hotel facilities of a 5-star hotel are not compromised.
Food wise, there’s a hawker centre that sells delicious porridge and Chinese herbs soups with rice opposite the hotel (evening). For breakfast/lunch, walk across the road to the right and you could find shops that sell delicious Laksa, fish ball noodles, Indian food and curry puffs. The curry puffs are highly worth trying! Provided you manage to grab one before it disappears!
P/s: This hotel is top on my preference list. However, the price of the room is slightly more expensive.
Equatorial Hotel
Equatorial Hotel Melaka
Hotel Equatorial Melaka is a 5-star international business class hotel. This hotel is within walking distance to the main business, shopping, tourist attraction places and entertainment districts.
Located nearby are Porta de Santiago, Dataran Pahlawan Shopping Centre, Mahkota Shopping centre, Mahkota Medical Centre and Melaka Raya area the entertainment district.
As for the businessman, if your wife or girlfriend loves to shop and you do not have time to accompany her due to work, you will never go wrong with this hotel.
It’s just within 5 minutes walk from 2 major shopping complexes in Melaka.
All you need to prepare is $$$.
P/s: This hotel is a good choice to mix business and pleasure during your stay in Melaka, Malaysia. Good reputable hotel with meeting room and Club lounge for business discussion.
If you have time to spare, there are plenty of Melaka’s attraction places within walking distance from the hotel.
Holiday Inn
Holiday Inn Sparkling Infinity Pool
This is one of the newest additions of hotels in Melaka. Holiday Inn Melaka gleaming 20-storey white tower and strikingly modern hotel is a relaxing base to explore the unique multicultural Malaysian city of Melaka. You could watch the sun set over the Melaka Straits from the hotel's sparkling infinity pool.
For relaxation, indulge in a soothing massage the Tea Tree Spa while your children enjoy themselves in the children pool and play area. For night entertainment, just head to The Jetty (beside Holiday Inn Hotel) for a cold drink, relaxation, karaoke, food or massage!
P/s: This hotel is another good choice to mix business and pleasure during your stay in Melaka, Malaysia. If you love to drink, relax or even clubbing after a long day business meeting, Holiday Inn is a better choice than Equitorial Hotel Melaka.
Reason: It’s located beside The Jetty. (Less than 5 minutes walk)
Renaissance Melaka Hotel
Renaissance Melaka Hotel
This Renaissance Melaka Hotel or previously locally known as Ramada Hotel is the first 5-star hotel in Melaka. It is situated in the heart of the historical city of Melaka. This hotel blends old-world charm with modern luxuries and attentive business services.
The Renaissance Melaka Hotel is one of the top choices among businessman and foreigner who visit Melaka due to its long established reputation. Located nearby are Kampung Morten, Melaka River, Stadhuys building, St. Paul’s Hill and Jonker Street.
All rooms are equipped with luxurious furnishings, high-speed Internet, in-room safe and 24 hours room service. Others facilities are swimming pool and well-equipped fitness centre.
Lastly, do not forget to dine in Long Feng Chinese Restaurant and Olio Italian Restaurant which are located on the first floor! The dishes are superb!
P/s: Most businessmen prefer to stay here to its reputation & prestige. (J W Marriott Group). It is located at the Melaka Chinatown and nearby to local eateries.
However, you will just do fine with Long Feng Chinese Restaurant and Olio Italian Restaurant.
City Bayview
City Bayview Melaka Hotel
Right in the heart of town, Bayview Hotel Melaka is just minutes away from the business district. Its’ location is in close proximity to entertainment, shopping and famous historical sights.
The Bayview Melaka Hotel is strategically located in the hub of Melaka town, the 4-star hotel is within walking distance from historical sites, shopping belts and entertainment centres.
Located opposite the road are Putra Medical Centre and eateries places. There’s a Chinese Restaurant beside Putra Medical Centre that serve excellent food in the evening. I love the fried rice and noodles. The crabs are delicious but slightly expensive.
As for the breakfast/lunch, you could head to the Chicken Rice Shop located on the same row as the Chinese restaurant.
P/s: This hotel is located just 2 buildings across Renaissance Hotel. You might want to try this hotel if all the 5-star hotels are fully booked.
Alternatively, you could try the 3-star hotel located beside City Bayview (Hotel Orkid) or Aldy Hotel which is located at Jalan Kota.
