Let’s head to MELAKA FAMILY FUN destinations!

Have a nice time with your family

Welcome to the Melaka Family Fun list. City Turtle has organized this Melaka family fun list so that there are attraction sites or activities that you can enjoy as a family. Just to make the little ones happy and interest in Melaka. Some of the activities that you might want to consider are:

For those with young children, maybe a visit to the Melaka Butterfly & Reptile Sanctuary will do the trick. Another romantic gateway for family will be the Night Melaka Historical River Cruise.

CityTurtle hope you would love the Melaka Family Fun List!

Melaka Historical River Cruise.

In CityTurtle opinion, this is the modern way to relive the traders experience when they reach the famous Melaka Port in the past. A short cruise tour along the Melaka River takes around 45 minutes and costs RM5.00 per person. You also have the option for a 90 minutes coastal tour which costs RM 10.00 per person.

Onboard, you can’t miss the Melaka’s ancient houses and fishing boats. However, do keep a look out for this beautiful Malay village. It’s known as Kampung Morten which is located along the banks. Imagine that you are cruising during the 15th Century when Melaka was also known as the “Venice of the East“. Personally, City Turtle prefers the night cruise.

Jonker Street

Jonker Street is also known as Jonker Walk among Malaccans. For Malaccan,it’s a Melaka Family Fun destination. It is a pedestrian walkway that becomes a lively marketplace every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. It is located in Melaka town. You could find different kinds of foods, souvenirs, accessory and more under the moon in this uniquely Melaka Chinatown. This area is also a must visit for antiques and arts lovers during the daytime. Have patience and explore the shops for the memorabilia of the past. One last thing, don’t forget to BARGAIN!

The Light and Sound Show

The easiest way to learn the history of Melaka will be by enjoying this light and sound show. Located at Dataran Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir, it is an entertaining and educational show for those interested in understanding Melaka. At the same time, you will also have some grasp of the history of Malaysia. Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this first such project in South East Asia! Phew…. It’s definitely much more fun than reading a book!

Bullock Cart

Bullock Cart was once the means of transportation for the rich in Melaka. The features that separate the bullock cart of Melaka to that of others are the trappings, colour and the pointed roof which is in the shape of the horn of the bull. Rides can be taken at Ayer Keroh, next to the Orang Asli Museum.

Taman Mini Malaysia & Asean.

This a great place for home builders/ architectural people to visit. Who knows, you might get your novel ideas/breakthrough after visiting Malaysia’s traditional houses! Each and every house is individually constructed by a master builder and has their individual architectural characteristics. Aside from that, you can also find most of the houses that represent the ASEAN country. Isn’t it a worth while visiting place? Another interesting event not to miss is the cultural performances held from 11p.m to 1 p.m on Saturdays and Sundays!

Melaka Butterfly & Reptile Sanctuary

Known as one of the world’s comprehensive butterfly and reptile farms, this place acts as the home to more than 200 local species and some other rare ones such as Rajah Brooke and Birdwing. These flighty, colourful insects are worth watching. The farm also has over 400 specimens of insects to their collection.

Melaka Crocodile Farm

Are you the next Crocodile Hunter and looking for a place to wrestle crocodiles? This is definitely a place to drop by. There’s around 200 species of crocodiles in this 3.2 hectare park. Though I doubt that you are allowed to wrestle with the crocodile, you definitely can enjoy the heart stopping “crocodile“ performance. If you are lucky, you might get to feed the crocodile.

Melaka Zoo

The Melaka Zoo in Ayeh Keroh is the nation’s second largest zoo. The 54 acres zoo is home to more than 200 different species of animals. This zoo is famed for its’ tiger and rhino collection. For the romantic ones, there’s also a walkway to see water and marine birds in their natural settings. By the way, do remember to take a photograph with the friendly Orang Utan! What a wonderful Melaka Family Fun!

Hawksbill Turtle Sightseeing.

Only few have seen the Hawksbill turtles. Considered to be one of the Earth’s rare species, these marine turtles have a hawk-like beak and thorny shell. You can catch sight of the Hawksbill turtles almost every night throughout the year at Pulau Upeh. Aside from that, you could also head to Padang Kemunting in Masjid Tanah where the Turtle Management Centre located. Isn’t it an interesting Melaka Family Fun destination.
