Have you tried the Asean dessert called Pengat Pisang (Banana)? It is an amazingly delicious and easy to prepare tropical fruits based desserts.

Let me explain how to prepare this tropical fruit based dessert. You could either prepare red bean or green bean Banana Pengat. The cooking method is very simple, it just involves boiling. It's not messy and easy to prepare!

Banana Let's prepare a delicious banana dessert!

Below are the ingredients that you need to prepare and the cooking method.

Ingredients

Some ripe bananas (sliced medium)
200gms of red beans/green beans
500ml of coconut milk (can be substitute with a can of condensed milk)
200gm white sugar
2 Daun Pandan Leaves-optional (intensify the aroma and taste)
Water
Salt

Cooking Methods:

  1. Boil sugar, red sugar and coconut milk in a pot.
  2. Immediately add in the red beans in the pot and boil (slow fire) until soft.
  3. Stir the mixture occasionally and add in water if necessary.
  4. Add in a pinch of salt and daun pandan leaves and stir.
  5. Add in bananas and let it boil. (some prefer to retain the freshness of the banana and just add them as toppings.)
  6. Taste and ready to be served
Cooking tips: The red beans and green beans need to be soaked overnight in water or at least 4 hours prior to cooking. This will reduced the cooking time tremendously.
