Villa Sentosa is located along the Melaka River in a village called Kampung Mortem which is the only typical Malay village smack in the heart of Melaka Town.

You would get the feel of the ambience of the village house as you visit this privately owned house turned into a museum. This museum was built in 1920 by Tuan Haji Hashim bin Dato’ Demang Haji Abdul Ghani, a pioneer of the Kampung Mortem.

It’s easy to search for Villa Sentosa, just look out for a typical Malay house painted in lightish green facing the Melaka River.

This is the biggest Malay house in Kampung Mortem.

You could admire the typical Malay house architecture and the private essentials and collections of the owners (Malay costumes, old furniture, antiques and other paraphelia).

Note: A guided tour in this house will takes around one hour and the Villa is closed from visitor after 5.00p.m.

How to get there?

The easiest way is you could either drive or walk along Jln Bunga Raya, just after Majestic Hotel, you could see the village. There’s a pedestrian bridge crossing the Melaka River and once you are there, you could take a casual stroll along the kampong streets and visit the museum.

If you only have time for quick glance, either walk along the path-way along Melaka River or take a leisure boat ride which passes by Kampung Mortem along its route.
